Every Afternoon

“So you’re telling me you’ve never once gone to a party?”

She shook her head; I couldn’t help but smile at her nonchalance response.

“Then you have to come with me to the party this Friday!”

She spares me a look of pure boredom then returns to her book on ‘Introduction of the Animal Kingdom book 3 volume 1’. She must think I’m crazy, but I don’t mind.

Her lily-white skin glows even more under the afternoon sun, dark brown locks of hair shine and glisten as she turns the pages of her book. She reminds of me the strangest things, the calm of the forest or the soft energy on the beach.

“C’mon I’m allowed to bring one friend with me.” I place my hands on her book, hoping to gain some kind of attention from her.

“I do not have any of those.”

“What?”

She looks at me like I’m one of her specimen, “I do not have any friends.” She repeats slower this time.

“Oh don’t bull, how can you not have any friends?”

“Homosapians are cruel mammal, they all use me when they need me for projects, but once that’s done, I am no one’s friend and I have no one.”

Her big pretty hazel eyes darken behind her glasses. It saddens me cause I know she just pretends not to care while she’s hurting on the inside.

“Don’t you have me?”

She smirks and pulls her legs into criss-cross and turns to sit facing me. “I will never have anyone.”

I change my position so I’m straddling the park’s rock bench. “But you have me.” I say again, quieter this time.

She raises a delicate eyebrow at me causing my face to light up a soft colour of crimson.

“Do I now?”

“You’ve always had me.” I say so quietly it seems to draw her nearer to me.

“I’ve always loved your eyes,” I say softy as I raise my hands to remove her glasses, “They’re such a light hazel while your hair is almost a cherry tree brown.”

She instinctively pulls away from my hands, which further helps me remove her glasses. Her eyes really are beautiful; they seem to sparkle with all her knowledge.

“Wow.” I mouth the word so lightly it was almost inaudible.  

“Pardon?” She squints at me as if she wanted to better her hearing through her now impaired eyesight.

Dam, she is adorable. Leaning forward I caress her lips with my own, at first I sense her stiffen at my actions but moments later she returns my affections and calms my overactive heart.

She pulls back, surprise written all over her face. Her blacked-rimmed glasses leave my hand and are placed back on her blushing face.

I never knew she could run this fast, I never knew anyone who could run that fast…

I could feel my heart breaking as she sprinted away from me, the party is gonna suck.

“I’ll think about joining you at the party.” She shouted back at me while waving, her face had a light smile on it.

Perhaps I was the reason for her smile; the idea brings a goofy grin onto my blushed face…

Man, I’m crazy about her.
